Grief

All of us will experience loss at some time in our lives. It can arise from various forms of loss, not solely from the passing of someone dear. It may also come from losing a job, a relationship, a cherished dream, or even a pet.

Grief is exhausting physically and emotionally.  There can be a myriad of emotions; sadness, guilt, anger, shock, loneliness, anxiety, sensitivity, helplessness, relief,  or numbness. This can bring on despair and intense sorrow.

How Therapy Can Help

Therapy creates a space where the mourning process can be worked through at your own pace. Often it is not just the loss itself that brings on despair -  it is what the loss uncovers in us.

The therapeutic environment allows us to understand that death ends a life – not a relationship. The end of mourning does not mean that the deceased is forgotten, rather they will become a meaningful memory – a part of one’s life.

Therapy can allow you to come to terms with your loss by figuring out how to move forward in life, while still cherishing memories of your loved one.
